Artist: Andy Warhol " Red Cat Sam"
Art innovator Andy Warhol (1928 – 1987) He and his mother, Julia Warhola, both loved cats and had several of their own, all named Sam except for one called Hester. They were one of his favorite subjects in the 1950s, before he became acclaimed for his Pop Art portrayals of soup cans, Coke bottles and Marilyn Monroe. After a successful career as a commercial illustrator, Warhol became famous worldwide for his work as a painter, avant-garde filmmaker, record producer, author, and public figure. Our lesson concentrates on line and color to create our Warhol’s “Red Cat Sam” work. "Red Cat Sam" is part of a art book Andy Warhol made with his mother in 1955 called "25 Cats Named Sam". He gave away these art books as Christmas presents.
